Charles G. Wilson, founding agronomist of the USGA Green Sections Turf Advisory service, and head agronomist, sales manager and director of Milorganite fertilizer, passed away on September 23rd, 2013 at the age of 93.
Charlie Wilson had a profound impact on the turf industry throughout his career. During his time with Milorganite, Charlie traveled the country visiting turf distributors, golf courses and speaking at agronomy conferences. He founded the O.J. Noer foundation for turfgrass research, an organization that has provided over 1 million dollars in research grants since its conception. Charlie also spearheaded the Wisconsin Golf Turf Symposium, each year, golf course superintendents from around the country gather for the conference, where trends and studies are discussed by some of the foremost minds in the business. This year will mark the 48th annual turf symposium, Milorganite continues to support this historic educational conference.
